The word "stems" in our logo was designed by my younger sister, Holly Abbott, to honor our Nana (and her infamous penmanship), who passed away in January 2024. Nana played a pivotal role in my life, offering a love and care that was unconditional and different from what I experienced from my other caregivers. She was the one who picked me up from school, sometimes several times a week, to take me to therapy appointments. We lived less than a mile apart on a farm in Upstate New York, where Nana’s beautiful gardens were a staple in the community. Everyone came to admire her flowers or buy from the greenhouse she lovingly tended for years.
Though I never inherited her green thumb—failing horticulture in college, no less—Nana's love for plants and her support in my mental health journey remained a constant in my life. After her passing, I sought a way to honor her memory. Pushing myself beyond my comfort zone, I began taking care of plants. Over the past year, I’ve accumulated more than 75 between my home and office, creating spaces where Nana’s love for both nature and mental well-being can continue to grow.
"I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, my Nana, you'll be."
